Congratulations to Henry – 2021 Winner of the SuperDog Worker Award
Henry is a rescue dog who came to me at the age of 8 months. He had previously been in five other homes. He had a difficult start to his life and lacked trust, and I have worked with him for years to bring out his own personality and focus his energy on his work. He is one of many rescue dogs at Conservation K9 Consultancy where we train dogs to help with conservation, wildlife research and ecology.
Henry has been working tirelessly with Hartpury University’s hedgehog expert Lucy Bearman Brown, People’s Trust for Endangered Species and British Hedgehog Preservation Society! He has proven that dogs can be one of the best tools to help survey and protect hedgehogs. Already featured in one research paper and another to follow, Henry is a unique, unbiased and non-invasive tool to help protect our prickly hedgehog friends.
We are thrilled that Henry is a finalist for a Naturo SuperDog Award – he is inspiring, hard-working and challenging all in one. Regardless of whether he wins the worker category, he will always be our Hedgehog Hero, our rescue dog to super dog! He will always be our winner!

So so thrilled Henry won the prestigious Worker award at the Superdog Event last night, I am so proud of this rescue dog turned conservationist working hard to help hedgehog conservation and highlight wildlife monitoring detection dog use in the Uk.
Also A big shout out to Hopes mum Sophie who was also a finalist last night and a shout out to the amazing work they do at headway brainydogs. Beautiful Hope lost her battle to illness on Wednesday, I think it has to be said hope is a most definitely a winner too and our thought at CK9C are with all her family.

I have just come across Henry on this page and I’m so amazed at Henry’s job! As an ecologist and dog lover I would love to work with trained dogs surveying endangered and protected species and helping to collect vital data. What an amazing idea.
