Digby is a gorgeous Dalmation who has changed the life of his owner, Katie. She has a rare condition that causes muscle weakness, and she has trained Digby to help her with tasks like opening doors, emptying the washing machine, and picking up items Katie may have dropped. It all began after Katie got Digby as a pet to help her feel less isolated and depressed just sitting at home after leaving school.
Katie’s mum suggested she apply to Support Dogs to train Digby as a disability assistance dog and after two years he qualified as Katie’s disability assistance dog. Because of Digby, Katie has been able to get a job. Support Dogs said Digby was the first Dalmatian to qualify via the scheme, so he’s an extra special and most deserving of a SuperDog Award.
